Our Mission

Gift of Water (GOW)® is a non-profit organization that provides filtered, clean and available drinking water to improve the health of impoverished children and families through community development and simple technologies in developing countries.

Our objectives are to provide water in the home that meets international health standards, to improve the health of children, to focus on education and developing values, eventual self-sustainability in our communities, and for continuous improvement of our program.

What We Do

  • In Haiti, 37% of the population lacks access to an improved water source and 83% lacks access to improved sanitation.
  • The current life expectancy in Haiti is 62 years.
  • 29% of children under the age of 5 are malnourished.
  • There are 45,000 deaths annually in children under the age of 5.

The Implications

  • Women and children are the most vulnerable to waterborne diseases.
  • 59% of Haitians live under the national poverty line of US $2.42 per day.
  • 24% of Haitians live under the national extreme poverty line of US $1.23 per day.
  • Gift of Water provides families in Haiti with a clean, reliable water treatment system, which protects them from contaminated drinking water.
  • Gift of Water educates families about proper health and sanitation practices through a WASH training program.
